Events and Celebrations in Banff

Banff indulges in hosting a wide array of festivals throughout the year. These vary from private bashes thrown in the local pubs, to national celebrations. Though not all events in Banff are perennial, here is a list of popular events (and their respective dates), that recur annually:


Art Shows & Exhibitions

Event: Art from the Permanent Collection
Venue: Whyte Museum of the Canadian Rockies

  • Home to the world’s largest accumulation of Canadian Rockies photography, literature, and art.
  • Ongoing stories of Peter and Catherine Whyte.
  • Kids Services provided through “Museo Funatic Packs” to aid them in exploring the museum.
  • Archives and library (1pm to 5 pm, Mon-Sat). Museum shops opened daily from 10 am to 5 pm.
  • Entry fees are $6/student, $3.50/senior, and $15/family of 4.
     

Event: Comic Craze

    Sporting Events

Event: Terry Fox National School Day Run
Date: September 17
Brief:

  • A national, simultaneous participation amongst schools all over Canada to commemorate the anniversary of Terry Fox’s Run of Hope.
  • It is thus one of Canada’s largest single-day event in Canadian history where youths show that they have the power to help others.
